Having a CS technical background isn't the only way to enter a Product Management job. Of course it can help but they are many others soft skills needed to be a great product manager. Technical skills you can always learn on the job so you just need the right company to be willing to invest in you because of your overall profile and the other skills you offer. Why I designed this course ?

I myself was from a non technical background and wanting to get into product management but at the time I had little direct experience in product management but had lots of complimentary skills and experience. The only problem was without the right experience I was struggling to even get an interview. After 100s of rejection letters i decided to re-create my CV is a different way highlighting my skills in a story format. I used storytelling techniques to highlight the key things that would make me a good Product manager and BAMM !! I started getting q lot of interviews and finally got my dream Product Management job. I now work as the Head of Product for a startup in France.

How can this course help you?

This course can help you clarify all your experience and CV into a concise and unique way so you can get noticed by recruiters and get your PM job interview. Of course you will still need a traditional CV in many cases but having a story doc is a great way to get noticed and get in the door so you can have an opportunity to make your case to the recruiter.

FAQs

Does this work for Digital & Physical Product Manager role ?

Yes this document can be used when applying for roles for digital & physical PM job roles. The only difference will be the skills you highlight but the format of creating this document to highlight your story is the same for either job type.

Some job applications ask for a resume and a cover letter. How did you use this doc for an application with CV and cover letter requirements?

The Story Doc is not the only thing you will need to get a PM job. I think having a standard CV is still useful and sometimes needed by requirements. However in the first round of application your main goal is to get an interview but the main problem is how do you stand out so that they will actually take the time to look at your standard CV closely and meet with you. You need to grab their attention and this is the whole point of the Story doc. So it get you an interview and in the door to present your standard CV. Now you have a real chance to pitch yourself.

Which job markets is this kind of document suited for ?

I personally tried this in the European/UK job market. However it suited for all job markets globally especially larger market such as Asia or North America where the applicant rate per job is even higher so the need to stand out is even more important.
